Edward just left a pocket testament on his coffee table..it led to a spiritual conversation...and he now has a friend - forever!

A friend of mine stopped by today and noticed one of the pocket testaments sitting on the coffee table. He asked me if it had anything to do with nascar since it had the checkered flag on the cover. I took that as an opening for witnessing. I told him that God is about everything including NASCAR. He said that he did notice that an opening prayer before the races was given, but he figured it was just done due to tradition. I told him that God is and should always be part of everybody's daily tradition. Well this conversation went on for a couple of hours as we took turns reading from the pocket testament aloud. After we finished reading a few chapters, my friend surprised me by asking if I can help him accept God into his life. I told him yes, but then I pointed out that he actually started the process himself by asking about the pocket testament. He chuckled and agreed. After that, we both prayed together and my friend accepted Jesus as his one true Messiah. He will be joining us this sunday for church.... Thank you for giving us all this powerful tool to be used with our witnessing!

So often we complicate the process of sharing our faith. Hebrews 4:12 tells us that the "Word of God is living and active."... God means it. Look at this recent story from our website:

Sharing these Gospels of John is a unique opportunity. I gave one recently to a friend. He and I have talked about his need for Christ several times lately. I gave him a copy of the Gospel of John and ask him to read it. He came back a few days later and told me that he had gone to church and gave his life to Jesus. He told me that reading the story of Jesus touched him like nothing else could have ever done. Thank you for allowing me to give my friend this greatest of all gifts.

It is God's heart that we might work together to spread the Gospel. The Pocket Testament League is actively partnering with other ministries to spread the Gospel. We are producing special covers and co-branded Gospels of John for other organizations that have a mission to reach the lost. Whatever ministry you might be doing, you can be more effective if you have the Word of God tucked in a pocket, ready to share. This was posted last night on our website:

I have wanted to start "missionary" work for a few months now, but was not sure how. I heard on a Focus on the Family broadcast about these booklets. I hope to use them as an aid to spread the good news of Jesus to those He puts in my path. Or maybe I will go out and pass them out somewhere. Thank You for this opportunity.

Today Rebecca reminds us that anyone can sow a seed, and can make a difference that lasts for eternity. I thank God for her, and for our members who help each other spread the gospel in a mighty way.

Today I went to minister at a nearby nursing home. I have been witnessing there for over 10 years and never been able to get into the locked area where they keep the very seriously handicapped people -- many cripped and twisted. Today the door was open & the activities worker gave me permission to sing JESUS LOVES ME with them and share the gospel and love of Jesus and that one day they could have new bodies in heaven with Jesus! Many mumbled with broken voices to pray to ask Jesus to be their saviour! They were so happy to get their very own beautiful gospel of John to keep! THANK YOU FOR SPONSORING ME!! I am disabled but not too disabled to go to nursing homes!

The opportunities to share are all around us. We just need to pray, keep our eyes open, and be willing to have our busy schedules changed...just a little. I love this story from one of our members.

A few Sundays ago after church, our family went to McDonald's with another family. As I was placing my order, I handed a young man a Gospel of John. He took it and put it in his pocket. Later, outside we saw him reading the Gospel of John on his break. I approached him and asked if he knew what God required to have eternal life. He said no, but he would like to know. I waited about an hour and a half for his shift to end and met with him. He trusted Christ as his Savior.

A lot of us would like to see God back in the public schools. As adults, we can't bring Jesus into a public school....but the students can. The League was started 115 years ago by a teenager who brought the Bible into a public school. Thousands of lives were changed for eternity as a result. It is still happening today, thanks to members like Robert, who want to make a difference. Please pray for Robert, and the thousands of our teenage members who want to impact our world with the gospel.

I would like to use your gospels to help share the gospel with my friends at school. Right now, as a teenager, seems to be a great opportunity to share that won't be here forever. Everyday I see kids at my school striving to find that "thing" in life, either by engulfing themselves in sport actvities or giving into what everyone else pressures them to do. They NEED Christ so badly and I'm praying God will change their plumenting course of life with his love.

So many of us are chasing fulfillment and happiness. We search everywhere for it, yet don't find it. One of the great mysteries of life (actually, it is not a mystery...) is that when we seek God, and are obedient to Him, He then gives us that "peace that surpasses all understanding". I recently was diagnosed with DCIS. I had surgery and 10 radiation treatments. The devil thought he was sending me just for radiation treatments..but God sent me on a mission trip! I had dropped about 12 of the testaments in my purse...just in case....I felt God was going to use the experience for His good. It was amazing the people God put in my path everyday. I was able to share God"s love and encouragment to many. I was disappointed when I headed home because I realized I had 1 Testament left. God immediately spoke to me..." No, that one was for you...You need to remember I am taking care of you also"! It was one of the most spiritually fulfilling weeks of my life. Thank you for your testaments that make it easier to share Christ.
